Once You Master Yourself, You Master Everything Else

Updated: Dec 11, 2024

You are a MASTERPIECE!

The hardest and most profound battles we face aren’t with the world but within our own selves. This isn’t about external chaos it’s about the hidden storms of our being.

Your greatest adversary is your untamed self; your greatest ally is the awakened one within. -JD

This journey of self-mastery is not about control for control’s sake. It’s about stepping into YOU! Your fullest potential, rewriting your relationship with life, and walking through your days with a quiet power that can only come from within.

To do this, there are some core elements to help create this:

Controlling your thoughts, your emotions, and your actions. Together, they are the rhythms of your life that you can solely control, nothing else can actually be controlled by you within this life.

Reframing the Chaos- Why Mastery Is Necessary Today!

We live in a time of constant evoldances; (entanglements of distraction, escapism, and habits that lead us further from our essence that we unconsciously love.) With the internet feeding our insecurities and addictions normalizing silent suffering, it’s easy to lose touch with your higher self. Society often shouts louder than your inner voice, which in an essence are the unknown thoughts, and the result is a life lived for another consciousness, which is not yourself.

But true freedom doesn’t come from external success or perfection. It comes from mastering the parts of yourself you can control.

3 Stone Pillar

Three Stepping Stones to Master Yourself

1. Mastering Thoughts- Quieting the Endless Noise

Your thoughts are like seeds planted in the soil of your mind. Water them with doubt, and weeds of fear and insecurity will grow. Nourish them with purpose, and you’ll cultivate strength and clarity.

Your thoughts matter and this is why; Everything begins here. Your thoughts guide your emotions, which then directs your actions. Negative thought spirals can lead to inaction or destructive choices, creating a vicious cycle of confusion, frustration, and regret.

A major culprit for those cycles can be fueled by society to cause this mental chaos. From overexposure of social media which bombards you with curated lives that make you feel "less than." As well, Comparison traps showing that success is often measured in likes, followers, and achievements rather than fulfillment or peace from within and what truly matters.

Use these Awakened Actions to Master Your Mind.

  • Anchor Yourself: Begin your mornings with five minutes of stillness. Close your eyes, breathe deeply, and set a single word as your focus for the day (e.g., “peace,” “courage,” or “clarity”).

  • Curate Your Environment: Reduce mindless scrolling by intentionally following your passions and creating a path to follow revolving around it. Think of it this way, keep around you what inspires you not what holds you back or makes you tired.

  • Mental Detox: Write down three recurring thoughts that haunt you. Then, rewrite them with an awakened perspective.

(Example: Change “I can’t do this” to “I AM learning to overcome this.”)

2. Mastering Emotions- From Reaction to Intention

Your emotions are not weaknesses, they’re messengers to help guide you. When mastered, emotions become a compass for living with integrity and truth. But when left unchecked, they can steer you off course, trapping you in Evoldances of anger, shame, or anxiety. As well, can usually lead to impulsive decisions, regret, and fractured relationships.

Use these Awakened Practices for Emotional Growth:

  • Breath as a Reset Button: Whenever overwhelmed, practice the “Triple 3 Technique” 3 deep breaths, 3 questions to name your emotions, and 3 intentions for responding calmly.

  • Feeling Journals: Instead of avoiding tough emotions, write to them like a friend. Ask your anger, “What do you need me to know?” Ask your sadness, “How can I support you?”

  • Embodied Movement: Emotions live in the body. When words fail, dance, stretch, or simply shake your hands to release pent-up feelings.

3. Mastering Actions- The Physical Manifestation of Inner Growth

Actions are the meeting point of inner mastery and the outer world. They are the evidence of your commitment to living in alignment with your awakened self. Your actions define you both good and bad. Consistency builds confidence, and every small choice either strengthens or weakens your path toward freedom. The power to control this path rests entirely in your hands.

Yet, true mastery of action goes beyond habits or productivity. It requires awareness of the five senses, which are the gateways through which the external world interacts with your inner being. The 5 senses: sight, sound, speech, touch, and taste—are all tools for experiencing life. However, when left unchecked, they can also lead to unconscious behaviors that pull you further from your path.

The Role of the Five Senses

Your five senses are essential to physical mastery because they are the stimulation bridge between your internal being and external reality. While they enhance life’s beauty, they also expose you to distractions, cravings, and temptations that fuel Evoldances. To truly master yourself within the physical, you must master your senses.

  1. Sight (Eyes):

    • The eyes are powerful but often overexposed in digital consumption. Constant stimulation from social media, streaming platforms, or even toxic/ negative sightings or events can cloud your inner vision and derail your purpose.

    • Mastery of Sight means intentionally choosing what you consume visually. Replace non-serving content with visuals that uplift or ground you such as; nature, inspiring art, or calming environments.

  2. Sound (Ears):

    • Sound shapes your mental and emotional state. Negative inputs, such as gossip, harsh criticism, or chaotic noise, can unsettle the mind and lead to reactive behaviors. Positive sound, however, can calm, inspire, and align you.

    • Mastery of Sound means filtering your auditory intake. Choose empowering inputs, like calming frequencies, positive conversations, or silence to nurture clarity.

  3. Speech (Mouth):

    • Words hold immense power; they can create or destroy, build up or tear down. What you say is not just heard by others; it becomes a reflection of your own beliefs and energy. Careless speech, such as complaints, gossip, or self-deprecating comments, reinforces negativity and limits growth. However, intentional words as affirmations, gratitude, and kind encouragement will elevate your energy and bring you closer to your awakened self.

As the phrase goes, “Your word is your bond.” What you speak is a commitment. Not just to others, but to yourself. Words shape your reality, influence your relationships, and even define how you perceive your own worth. When used with care and intention, they become tools of alignment, helping you manifest a life that reflects your higher purpose.

    • Mastery of Speech involves speaking with purpose. Ensure your words reflect the person you want to become. Consciously contribute positively to those around you and especially YOU.

  4. Touch (Hands):

    • Touch is often overlooked but plays a profound role in energy exchange and connection. Unconscious touch, such as compulsive habits like masturbation, can deplete your energy and reinforce feelings of guilt or lack. Similarly, touch can absorb negative energy from others or environments, leaving you drained without realizing it.

    • Mastery of Touch means cultivating awareness of what you physically engage with. Channel your hands into creative, intentional acts like journaling, meditative gestures, or serving/helping others. Be mindful of the energy you give and receive through touch, this can be one of the most transformative areas of self-mastery.

  5. Taste (Mouth):

    • Taste is tied not only to nourishment but also to indulgence. Overindulgence in food, drink, or substances can dull the senses and create dependency. When uncontrolled, it reinforces escapism and disconnects you from your body’s natural rhythms.

    • Mastery of Taste involves mindful eating and drinking. By consciously choosing what to consume, you honor your body as a vessel for growth and alignment.

Your Senses and Mastery

The five senses are not enemies, yet they are tools. When consciously directed, they enhance your connection to life and support your journey of self-mastery. But when left unchecked, they pull you into reactive patterns, distractions, and escapes; Unconsciously.

Mastering your senses allows you to take control of the external forces that shape your internal world. By aligning what you see, hear, say, touch, and taste with your higher self, you strengthen your ability to take intentional actions that build confidence and freedom.

Awakened Practices to Help Control Actions of Living:

  • The Two-Hour Rule: If you have two hours, spend one intentionally: journal, meditate, or work toward a passion. Spend the other hour resting or engaging with loved ones.

  • Micro-Awakening Practices: Transform mundane tasks into meaningful practices.

(Example: While brushing your teeth, repeat an affirmation like, “I am capable of creating a fulfilling life.”)

  • Accountability Check-ins: Share one daily action with a trusted friend or community and update them at the end of the day.

  • Senses Mastery Practices:

    • Sight: Replace 10 minutes of screen time with looking at nature, art, or something inspiring.

    • Sound: Listen to calming music or binaural beats instead of mindless noise.

    • Speech: Start your day with one affirmation spoken aloud: “I am calm and centered.” Avoid gossip or negativity.

    • Touch: Hold something grounding, like a smooth stone, a beautiful tree or journal for 5 minutes.

    • Taste: Eat one meal slowly and mindfully, focusing on the flavors and your gratitude for nourishment.

Why Society’s Evoldances Keep You Stuck in The Cycle

Society often trivializes this kind of mastery by glorifying instant gratification and quick results. The myth of "overnight success" convinces many that transformation happens all at once, rather than through steady, intentional effort. Similarly, the perfect timing myth teaches you to wait for ideal conditions, which often becomes an excuse for inaction.

But true mastery over your actions which includes your senses is built quietly, in the moments no one else sees. It’s not about perfection, but about progress; making small, consistent choices that align your physical reality with your inner truth. This is where real growth occurs; when you align your senses, discipline your actions, and step fully into the power of your awakened self.

Today you can actually try these simple tasks, start small and choose one Evoldance you may be dealing with to address, then replace it with an awakened sway. Know you’re not alone in these struggles, and community is key to long-term growth. Awakened sways can help with this support by providing you with a professional guide and/or with the community group we have created. Even a trusted friend working on the same path of self-mastery can help as well.

Awakening Practices

Practices to Actively Change and Correct One Day at a Time

  1. Morning Mindset Reset-

Purpose of this is to start your day with clarity, intention, and alignment by defining what you want to focus on internally and externally.

Write down one affirmation, one thought, one emotion, and one action you want to embody for the day.

    • Affirmation: A powerful statement of truth or possibility to align your energy. (Affirmation Example: I AM confident or I AM loved.)

    • Conscious Thought: A conscious, intentional belief or perspective you want to carry with you. (Conscious Thought Example: I AM capable of growth or I AM worthy of success.)

    • Emotion: The feeling you want to cultivate. (Emotion Example: Gratitude, peace, joy.)

    • Action: A tangible, small step you’ll take to live out your intention. (Example: Smile at three strangers or send a kind text to a friend.)

This important practice sets a clear, intentional tone for your day, helping you navigate challenges with focus and positivity consciously.

  2. Embracing Gratitude:

This is to help shift your mindset toward abundance by recognizing and appreciating what you already have.

"How can you be grateful for something new if you are not even grateful for what you already have?"

    • Before bed or first thing in the morning, write three (3) things you’re grateful for. Gratitude rewires your brain for positivity within what you have today not focusing on what you may be lacking.

These can be small moments, experiences, or people that brought you joy or comfort.

      • (Examples: A meaningful conversation, A quiet moment of peace, or Warm sunshine on your face.)

Gratitude is important because it has been scientifically proven to rewire your brain to focus on the positive, creating a foundation of contentment and happiness.

  3. Reflection of the Day:

This is used to consciously review your day, celebrate progress, and identify opportunities for growth.

    • How to Use: Spend a few moments before bed reflecting on the Morning Mindset Reset ( WITHOUT JUDGEMENT TO YOURSELF), Ask yourself:

      • Did I embody the affirmation, thought, emotion, and action I set for the day?

      • Were there moments when I felt aligned?

      • Were there moments when I struggled or slid off track? If so, write it out without judgment.

        • For Example: "I felt frustrated when I couldn’t control a situation, and it led to self-doubt. I intend to breathe and pause next time."

      • Set a gentle intention for the next day to build on your growth.

Reflection helps you process emotions, track patterns, and approach the next day with clarity and self-compassion.

  4. Conscious Content:

Conscious content is used to reduce exposure to harmful or shallow media that can unconsciously shape your thoughts and emotions, consciously replacing it with uplifting and inspiring alternatives.

    • How to Use: Identify triggers in your media consumption (e.g., overly negative news, mind-altering content, comparison-inducing social media, or escapist content that drains your energy).

      • Replace these with:

        • Podcasts: Choose topics that uplift or educate to you resonate with and helps align you or encourages you to stay on the path you choose.

        • Books: Dive into a personal growth or spiritual book that aligns with your goals.

        • Create Something: My personal favorite; Draw, Paint, Craft, Build, Fix, Write, even Puzzles or Games that encourage positive growth and mental stimulation.

        • Silence: Allow moments of peace where you simply exist without input from the outside world. Like Meditation or Relax and just be.

Your input influences your mindset. Uplifting content fills your mind with encouragement and possibility, while silence fosters inner clarity.
